Didsbury In Bloom

Broad Oak continues to support Didsbury in Bloom throughout the Summer.

Planting around the village is Blooming and our school's planters outside the library are looking splendid. When Mrs McKrell has been to water them there have been many super comments about how lovely the flowers are looking and how they are bringing Didsbury back to life.

Further progress has been made on our new school pond. Over the Summer we received kind donations of aquatic plants from 2 wonderful Didsbury residents, many thanks to David Fernley and John Janulewski (our retiring Chair of Governors). Thanks to them the pond is now fully planted and teaming with wildlife!

We are looking forward to using it as part of our outdoor learning and Forest Crew provision. When the area is fully landscaped, we hope to invite local Community Groups to pond dip and have a variety of other wildlife and habitat experiences.

With sadness I report that after all the lovely planting had been done, our new school pond and wildlife area has been the target of vandalism during these uncertain times. Fortunately we were able to put right most of the damage to the pond but the impact on the plants and wildlife could not so readily be put right , this will take time.
