Equality Objectives (P.S.E.D.)
At Broad Oak we want all children and staff be treated as individuals. The Single Equality Act 2010 covers the 9 equality strands defined as protected characteristics: age; disability; gender assignment; marriage and civil partnership; pregnancy and maternity; race; religion or belief; sex; sexual orientation. In this school we will ensure that at every level, in all of our work and throughout all aspects of school community and its life, all will be treated equally. We will promote and strive for inclusive education through the promotion of our Core Values and British Values and our work towards the Unicef Rights Respecting School Award.

Our current objectives are:
Objective 1: Undertake an analysis of recruitment data and trends with regard to race, gender and disability by July 2020, and report on this to the Leadership committee of the governing body.
Objective 2: Increase the representation of staff and governors from black and minority ethnic communities over a 4-year period (from this July to July in 4 years' time), so that this group increases.
Objective 3: Train members of staff and governors involved in recruitment and selection on equal opportunities and non-discrimination by the beginning of the next academic year. Training evaluation data will show that 100% of those attending have a good understanding of the legal requirements.
Objective 4: To ensure that Broad Oak is meeting the needs of members of the LGBTQ community to the best of it’s ability.
