Swimming @ Broad Oak

At Broad Oak, we support our children within Year 5 to learn how to swim. It is an essential that all children part take in this compulsory element of the key stage 2 National Curriculum, whereby all pupils by the time they leave primary school should be able to achieve the following –

  1. Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations
  2. Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
  3. Use a range of strokes effectively, for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke.

Children in Year 6, who have not achieved their 25m by the end of Year 5, will have the opportunity to attend a series of catch up sessions during the Summer term.

All sesions will take place at the Wytheshawe Forum Swimming Baths, on a Monday,  with sessions led by the qualified MCRactive coaches.
